Wild Rose D-Tox Recipe: Pancakes
Posted by Corilee under Health & Food , Wild Rose D-Tox[7] Comments
There comes a time in the life of every detoxer, where you say – damn, I’ve worked hard! I deserve some pancakes! So do it, here’s how:
Combine 1 1/2 c of oats and 1/2 c of cornmeal with 2 cups of plain soy milk and let stand 10 minutes. Add 1/4 c wheat germ, 1 egg, 1 T Baking Powder, 1 T veggie oil and 1/2 tsp salt. Blend together.
Make sure your pan is good and hot (medium high heat) and oiled if it’s not non-stick. Drop spoons of the batter into it. When the edges start to look cooked and you see some bubbles, flip. Put them flat on a cookie sheet in the oven at 200 until you’ve gone through the batter.
These pancakes are fairly light and have a good texture. I cooked up some mixed berries to put over top. They were also good leftovers warmed up in the toaster and topped with almond butter. Yum.

Hello, I’m running out of breakfast ideas while on the cleanse so the pancakes made me happy! The only thing I’m not sure of is baking powder and wheat germ – aren’t they a form of flour? I’d love to try it though …

I don’t think of either of them as flour, the baking powder makes them raise more than a crepe and wheat germ is flakey rather than floury. But your call – if you’re concerned, don’t eat them.

When the recipe calls for oats, is that instant, quick or some other form?
I’ve seen recipes that call for “quick oats(not instant)”
Thanks

Hey there, either one will work but the instant oats will give a finer texture, a little less “hearty” shall we say
Happy detoxing!

Baking powder is made primarily of baking soda, which I guess would be o.k. during the cleanse, but also cornstarch, a bit no no during the Wild Rose detox. Technically, the detox is helping you get rid of excess yeast in your body. Using a chemical version of yeast can’t be good…
But then again, I do some mild “cheating” during that cleanse, including one latte half way through and eating an abundance of “Sticks and Twigs”, that lists tamari in the ingredients… So who am I to say anything?!?
I will give your pancake recipe a go, and during my next cleanse (starting tomorrow) to support your amazing blog (and my stomach!!!)
Thanks, and happy cleansing!

Yes I hear you, it is a mini-cheat and I’ve even thought about removing this post. However (and it’s a big however) I have found that a mini-cheat often helps me get through and avoid a mega-cheat. So I’ve left it in. Everyone needs to manage their own detox right? Happy detoxing to you too!
