Eating & Food Tips for Wild Rose Herbal D-Tox
Posted by Corilee under Health & Food , Wild Rose D-ToxI’m on the Wild Rose D-Tox program again. I used to do it regularly but it’s my first time in 3 years so it kinda feels like the first time. It comes with a pretty restrictive food menu. You stop eating all the bad or potentially bad stuff for the 12 days you’re on it. But I like it, it’s a good detox because of the food program. It makes me feel like a million bucks so I can only imagine what it’s doing to my insides. It makes me aware of all the eating and drinking habits I have that I really should consider ditching or at least keeping in check. But it’s tough because I can’t just easily do hippie food you know? I’m too much of a foodie to think that brown rice and tofu for almost 2 weeks is any fun.
It seems like at some point at the beginning of the program when I’m still feeling sluggish and surly I have the epiphany that I CAN’T EAT ANYING ON THIS STUPID PROGRAM and I’m convinced the 12 days are going to feel like 12 months. But the sluggish feeling passes and once my head clears in 2-3 days of it I can get creative about the food thing. To save you some of the same angst, here are a few things that have worked for me:
- Plan and Commiserate - If you can find a friend to do the program with, the support is amazing. Others in your life may not want to hear about your bowel movements, but someone else who’s on the program will actually find this interesting because they’re dying to discuss their own too. Also plan what you’re going to eat and face facts - you’re going to need to do some cooking. Having options on hand will keep the donuts from calling to you by name.
- Breakfast - I like hot cereal but when oatmeal resembels Lepages glue more than something edible it’s tough. Large flake oats help. Also Bob’s Red Mill has a non-wheat multigrain cereal that’s a great alternative. I throw in some chopped up dried plums (I don’t call them prunes, that’s gross) or chopped fresh fruit and a sprinkle of cinammon. Fill over the level of the mixture with hot water, nuke for a minute. Stir and add more water so it’s a little more watery than what you’ll want and nuke again for 30-60 seconds. Let it sit for a bit to cool and then dig in.
- Plan snacks - if you spend your workday away from your own fridge you need snacks. Rice cakes and almond butter seem to the faves. I also found some Scottish oat cakes that are made from just oats and a little oil, they’re yummy with nut butter. Rice crackers also work as a nut butter delivery system. I also found apple butter that is made from just apples, I dunno if this is technically too sugary because it’s so reduced, but I’ve had a swipe when i’ve really wanted something sweet. A bag of almonds, fresh fruit, containers of natural apple sauce with cinnamon sprinkles are all handy when your healthy lunch didn’t stick to your ribs the way MacDonalds does. My favourite evening snack if I’m still hungry is a bag of natural microwave popcorn, drizzled with butter that’s been melted with a squeezed garlic clove and a pinch of celtic sea salt in it.
- Check the health food section - I found that organic or healthy brand soups and broths often don’t have all the yeast, sugar etc. of regular stuff and so they fit into the food program. It’s nice to be able to tuck into some veggie chili when you’re hungry and need something quick. It’s also handy to have some broth to add to your brown rice or stirfry for extra flavour. Lentil soup can be a good one here too - consider add-ons like veggies, extra cumin or curry.
- Oven Timer - If you work all day and have an oven that will come on at a pre-set time make use of it! Make bake potatoes that you can top with butter and green onions or roast a bunch of veggies like sweet potatoes, carrots and beets with salt, pepper and a coating of oil. It makes them really sweet - make lots for leftovers the next day.
- Pasta Jones? - if you really miss noodley things, consider rice noodles, like the Rice Stick packages in the Asian section of the grocery store. They’re made from white rice so it’s a 20% category food, but with lotsa veggies in a stirfry they’re a good change from brown rice monotony. Consider making a stirfry ’sauce’ with almond butter, broth and lemon juice. It’s not a gooey peanut sauce, but it ain’t naked either.
- Spark up the Barby - as my Aussie sis-in-law would say. OK you’ll need to forgo the bbq sauce, but fish slow simmered in foil with butter and chives? Sweet potatoes in foil with butter? (Notice a pattern on the butter thing? Yeah, I’m happy that’s on the menu). Also, fresh beets? New baby carrots? Those little purple potatoes? Who says detoxing is hell, I’m in food heaven!
- Herbal Teas - if you don’t drink these normally stock up on good quality teas in fun flavours. There aren’t alot of drink options on this diet, so you’ll be happy to have something warm to sip on a cool a.m. or long evening.
- Consider buying the Wild Rose cookbook - it’s not expensive ($13 CDN) and it has additional info about the detox itself. Going through the recipes made me go - oh yeah, i guess I can eat that. For example, classic Cesear salad dressing with anchovies and all? Wouldn’t have occured to me.
Hope this helps you get through your 12 days of fun. While eating monotonous hippie food for 2 weeks may be an option, tastier options will be more likely to get folded into your regular eating when you finish the program. Then you can eat healthier long-term and your next detox will be even easier. Happy Cleansing!

I am on day 2 of the d-tox and so far so good. Nothing terrible happening - just a bit more time in the washroom.
I had a terrible bout of an intestinal infection and a string of immune depleted illnesses and sought out the help of a nautorpath. I must be living a somewhat clean and healthy lifestyle now and because of it I am not feeling the side effects others seem to. I do crave my glass of wine, sugar in my coffee and yoghurt but other than that I am okay!
I really found your site informative and motivational and have just ordered the cookbook. It may not arrive in time for this d-tox but I will use it throughout the year and for the next time I d-tox.

I hate to tell you, but you can’t have the rice noodles. They are made with rice flour; you are not to have flour of any kind. I am currently on day five and find that I enjoy eating much more on the cleanse. Make sure that you take the time to prepare tasty food instead of eating only raw vegetables.
Use Bragg in place of soy/tamari sauce. If you get sugar cravings, a berry shake with unsweetened soy milk or an apple or pear usually do the trick. For you die hard carb-junkies, a baked potatoe with butter and chives! But don’t have it every day. Personally, I find yam fries with curry to be a great snack. As well, I try to keep a bag of almonds, an avacado, cut veggies, and apples and pears around for when I get that hollow feeling (the avacodo and hard boiled eggs work the best for that)
You can find some of the wild rose recipes online.

This site has a few, and there are others out there.

Today is my third day on the diet, I am having a problem with ideas to eat - can someone give me some more ideas
March 20th, 2007 at 1:00 am
Does anyone know if Kiwi fruit is allowed?
March 21st, 2007 at 5:11 pm
I will be starting the 12 day wild rose detox this Sunday - for the second time.
I love to make a big pot of chicken or turkey chilli. It’s filling and you can have it for lunch or dinner.
I agree with other that having the snacks on hand will help with filling the empty moments.
Sometimes if I feel hungry I have a large glass of water and it helps fill me up. Hydrating the body is key =)
March 26th, 2007 at 3:06 pm
Sarah, as far as I know, kiwi would be considered a tropical fruit, therefore a no-no. If anyone needs recipe ideas and can’t find the cookbook, this site (http://www.clubvibes.com/forum/topic.asp?whichpage=2&topic_id=407168) has them all posted for you! I’m on day 7, first time through, and other than some muscle aches and a bit of lethargy, I’m doing okay! My kids even brought home a DQ ice cream cake yesterday, and I managed to say no!! Never thought that would happen! Good luck to all out there!

Hello everyone, I am on day 2 of the D-Tox cleanse and I need FISH recipes. LOL I am finding it very good and have recommended it to some of my friends. As I have food allergies, I am finding the caplets to be beneficial so far. I tried the link left by Judy above, and it does not work.
so I was wondering if there were a type error or perhaps a website to start at.
March 29th, 2007 at 3:52 pm
Hi, Emma! I just tried the link again, and it worked fine! Did you copy and paste the brackets with the link? Try it without the brackets - it should work. If it doesn’t, type in www.clubvibes.com, then from the bar on the left, select “Forum”, then “Food & Dining”, the in the keyword search bar type “Wild Rose Recipes” and select that topic when it appears in blue. That will take you to the same place.
As to fish recipes, have you tried just sprinkling some lemon pepper and fresh herbs on it, then poaching or broiling it? It’s so simple, and the flavor can be varied by whatever herb you use. Also, don’t forget you can use butter, so garlic butter makes a great side for this!
I’m on day 9 now, and doing great! I’m sleeping better, and have more energy, so hang in there - if it gets bad, it will get better! I found out that the bone/muscle aches were from the toxins being leached out of my system from deep within, so that answered that.

Hello! I am starting the dtox on monday, this will be my 4th time on this cleanse.
Favorite snacks of mine are corncakes (another alternative to ricecakes) with almond butter and pears.
Organic popcorn with flaxseed oil drizzled on top (this is absolutly delicious as it tastes soo much like butter and is sooo much better for you).
an Almond mild smoothies with berries for breakfast.
This detox i am excited to make a quinoa salad with cilantro and spices.
I have planned with a few other people from work, and we are each going to exchange food we have made. It makes it so much easier as we work at a restaurant and its good to have the support of others that know what we are going through.
Things that I have learned with multipul cleanses is that I lost more weight when I was very stingent with butter, when I was more liberal i didnt really see much of a weight loss.
And I personally have to cut back on the laxitives, i noticed that I would have constant hunger pains, once i cut back on them i felt better.
Also the more prepared you are the more easier it is. Always have some food on you; nuts, carrot sticks, snap peas whatnot as then you wont be likely to give into your cravings of cheese, bread and chocolate.
make big pots of food to freeze for when you are on the go and hard boil eggs for salads and snacks.
thats about it!
I am still searching for more tips to make the cleanse easier.
Good Luck!

Hello Again!
I want to share a link to recipes from the ReCleanse Herbal Cleanse program, its a 7 day cleanse, it’s not as strict and I saw better results with the Wild Rose dtox, but the diet is very similar. Just make the alterations where needed.

kiwi is not tropical! it grows in canada and new Zealand!!!
September 26th, 2007 at 12:28 am
I tried to go the program last yr, but I stopped after 6 days as I just CANNOT stand the smell of the pills & drops! They just makes me sick, even thicking about it can make me gag! I did try taking them with apple juice, but it didn’t help that much!
I really want to do the de-tox, but the pills are turning me off!
Any suggestions?
September 27th, 2007 at 6:12 pm
Hello…I am looking into doing this detox. I’m a little stessed already about the foods we can and can’t eat. What is an ideal breakfast. I guess OATMEAL is not allowed? Any suggestions for breakfast is appreciated.

Yes, oatmeal is fine - do you have the kit with the food lists in it? See all my posts on Wild Rose with recipes and suggestions here http://www.corileefox.com/category/wild-rose-d-tox/. Good luck!
October 2nd, 2007 at 6:04 am
Hi. Isn’t New Zealand tropical?
I highly recommend the cookbook.
I use it all the time even when not cleansing.
October 9th, 2007 at 7:41 am
Does anyone know if I am allowed one cup of black coffee per day?
Great site!!!!!!
October 24th, 2007 at 5:24 pm
Hi, I’m on day 4 and although my headaches from day 1 and 2 have cleared up, the new issue is the pain in my kidneys…. I think I have to drink more water, but has anyone else felt this either? Almost like lower-back period pain (and it’s not PMS as I just finished my period last week) Sorry to the fellas who had to read that!
October 25th, 2007 at 1:19 am
Hi! I’m on day 4, feeling much better than the first 3 day. However I just bought some Organic Brown Rice noodles, and all the ingredients say are: Organic brown rice and water. I was told at the health food store these were ok for the detox, but I have been reading many posts that say they aren’t. Can anyone clarify this for me?
October 27th, 2007 at 8:39 pm
Woooo i am on day 7!!! i feel fine just hungry for a biggg meal, but i think through this plan i will try and healthy from here on in!
November 3rd, 2007 at 4:56 pm
I’m about to start the Wild Rose D-Tox.
I’m of the underingstanding that I can eat certain things such as tortillas as long as there stone ground as well as corn childs(stone ground).
As well, how about brown rice pasta?
Thanks….J
November 3rd, 2007 at 4:57 pm
Oi, that would be corn chips.
November 3rd, 2007 at 10:11 pm
Yeah the brown rice pasta thing is tough, because you’re right, it’s brown rice, but technically it’s a processed form. So I think it just depends how hard core you plan on being with the diet.
November 11th, 2007 at 7:18 pm
Was wondering…..when its says “stone-ground” such as for pasta, crackers or tortillas is that allowed on the detox…..is stone-ground the same as flour is what I’m really asking?
Thanks….J

Hi folks, I’m 37 and I’m trying to eat better and become healthier. My buddy just did this cleanse for 12 days and lost 22 lbs WOW! I think this is a good start to balance out my thoughts and sometimes bad habits. Sorry I drink alot of Beer!! Not Now!
December 5th, 2007 at 7:57 pm
Hi everyone. loads of information. i am planning on starting the 12 day tomorrow. pretty excited but as this is my first time…kind of nervous. totally not my routine…i am a take out Mom and so my teenagers will be on the diet part of the cleanse as well. i have one question: do you know if any medications will interfere with the cleanse (antidepressants in particular). in addition, i am a smoker and it doesn’t say anywhere in the info about smoking. comments/replies would be greatly appreciated.
January 1st, 2008 at 7:38 pm
Hi everyone. When on the Wild Rose detox, you cannot eat flour. This means no pasta of any kind even if its whole wheat or organic or rice-based because its still processed and in flour form. The directions state that flour, when mixed with water, sticks to the lining of your stomach and creates residue. Youre trying to rid your body of this type of material. There’s lots of good stuff to eat on the Wild Rose plan. Lots of fresh, whole, unprocessed foods. Cheers!
January 2nd, 2008 at 3:48 am
Hi, I was wondering if coconut milk is allowed. It is not mentioned on the list. It has no sugar and I think only the cheaper brands use flour as a thickener. Anyone know? Thanks!
January 3rd, 2008 at 4:21 am
Regarding the coconut milk, the instructions on the booklet state: if its not on the list, dont eat it. So no coconut. Also, the smoking? Not recommended at any time so if the detox is suppose to rid your body of bad physical residue as well as habits. Remember that this detox is, ultimately, for you, you and your body. Theres no point cutting corners and cheating because its for your benefit. Email may not convey my tone so Im not being harsh, Im just a bit surprised at some of the things Im reading. Theres adapting and conforming then theres just plain old resistance to changing your ways and if thats the case, why spend the dollars on this detox or expend the time? This detox is meant to wake your senses. So awaken.
January 9th, 2008 at 11:40 pm
Hey all, in previous blogs I noticed a recipe for Wild Rose Pancakes which I would love to try, but 2 of the ingredients are Wheat Germ & Baking Soda, aren’t both of those a type of flour? Like I said, I’d love to try them because I’m running out of breakfast recipes (sadly, not a fan of oatmeal) … any help? Thanks!
January 13th, 2008 at 2:01 am
I was wondering if grapefruit is okay on the meal plan??? I don’t see it on the list but noticed oranges are not recommended. If anyone could help me out I’d appreciate it!
January 13th, 2008 at 2:45 am
I just finished day one. With some advanced planning, things are going ok. I would say no to grapefruit - not on the list.
January 14th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
Hi I was wondering, Did anyone see an improvment in their skin after taking the cleanse? I was thinking about trying it and I just wanted to know if it would also help me with my skin. Thanks!
January 16th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
I love this cleanse! I’m just starting day 5 and it’s a breeze so far, only one day of nausia and headaches…(day 3). I’m curious to know if it’s ok for me to take allergy meds…I tryed hard not to, but succumbed to it on day 3 @ 1am when I couldn’t sleep due to hives all over me…I I don’t know if this was because of the cleanse (it gets worse before it gets better) but I couldn’t stand it! I’m not sure what I’m allergic too…I have an allergist appt. next month, but I was hoping the cleanse might help. If someone knows if allergy pills are ok, please reply!
January 22nd, 2008 at 6:29 pm
is miso ok during this cleanse??
i am also looking for any websites that have recipes for whole body cleanses….
thanks!
January 22nd, 2008 at 7:51 pm
Does anybody have a link to any of the recipes that actually works. The above links don’t work for me. I need it in case I can’t get the book in time I’m planning on doing the d-tox. Thanks.
I also want to know if canned fish is allowed - like canned sardines or tuna (no salt added and from a good health food store)
And I know ketchup isn’t allowed but what about all natural brown mustard and non-dairy sour cream. I use these to mix my tuna with. Otherwise I dunno what to mix it with.
January 22nd, 2008 at 7:54 pm
I also forgot. I know soy milk is allowed in moderation but I drink almond milk so I’m assuming that is allowed.
And does anybody have any suggestions what to use to sweeten tea (I love tea but I need sugar (raw not refined) in it to drink it and of course sugar isn’t allowed neither is honey) so how can I make it at least a bit sweet?
January 22nd, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Answering my own question here but I finally was able to access that site with recipes by going to http://www.clubvibes.com
If you can access the whole link there it is (if not copy and paste or find it through clubvibes site by going to forum and like somebody mentioned earlier typing Wild Rose Recipe in search)
http://www.clubvibes.com/forum/topic.asp?whichpage=1&topic_id=407168
Looks like nut milk is allowed (almond etc.) and canned fish too. Still don’t know about mustard or some kind of sweetener alternative in tea.
January 22nd, 2008 at 8:49 pm
I was finally able to access the recipe site by going to http://www.clubvibes.com and then Forum and typing Wild Rose Recipe in search. Here’s the whole link if you can access it by clicking on it from here:

From the discussion there it looks like nut milk is allowed (almond etc.) and canned fish too. Still don’t know about mustard or some kind of sweetener alternative in tea though.
I’m excited and a bit scared to start this cleanse. But I really need it.
January 28th, 2008 at 10:05 am
Lysa: it says in the pamphlet included in the kit to continue any prescription medications/drugs you are currently taking. The formulas in the D-Tox may increase your rate of absorption & elimination.
Amanda: unfortunately, no miso! Miso is fermented soybeans, and anything fermented is not allowed. Including wine — torturous!
I found a blog with a recipe for Chicken Tikka Masala that’s acceptable for the Wild Rose D-Tox cleanse http://marketingbling.blogspot.com/2005/08/wild-rose-herbal-d-tox-recipe.html
January 29th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
I have been on the fast for six days now, it is extremely easy, but I have not experienced any uncontrolable bowel behavior and have not lost any weight. The bowel behavior is good but the weight is a bit of a downer. I also didn’t experience any side effects or a sense of feeling better.
Not sure why this is?
February 1st, 2008 at 4:55 pm
I was just wondering… are you allowed ceaser dressing? I did not buy the cookbook.. I know I should have.. I LOVE CEASER SALAD… Is it allowed?
February 1st, 2008 at 5:08 pm
I have done the detox twice and I can confirm to Angelina that my skin clears up each time, however it returns to ‘normal’ after I start eating wheat, sugar, dairy again so I am not sure what it is of those that is the culprit. My husband has had chronic acne on his back and he did the detox and stopped drinking pop and his acne has cleared up!!! He is thrilled. Each time he has a few pops, it flares up again. I should probably try that too, but I don’t have the willpower that he does.
Also, for Olivia, I wanted to say that the first time I did the detox I had a very sore lower back (probably my kidneys, too). This almost made me quit, because it ached so badly for 3 or 4 days. I did make it through that and when I did the detox again, I did not have a recurrance of the pain.
February 6th, 2008 at 5:02 am
I’m on day two of the Wild Rose D-Tox, and missing carbs like crazy.
I’m trying to be creative with recipes, so I stocked my fridge with a bunch of things we’re allowed to eat, cooked up a huge tupperware container full of brown rice, and cooked.
I’ve been making little stirfrys with curry powder and sesame oil, which taste great and fit into the program. I find I use curry powder a lot for dinners.
February 17th, 2008 at 5:44 pm
i have just started the cleanse and am realizing that i miss my glass of juice in the morning….i usually have apple, orange or grapefruit juice - is there ANY type of juice that is allowed during this cleanse…i need JUICE???
February 18th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
You can try to look for natural fruit juices at a nearby healthfood store, they’re not as sweet, but it is a lot better. Also for an alternative to sugar or honey as a sweetner, I think stevia is alright because its just made of natural herbs… but I’m not 100% sure, so you might have to find more information about that…
February 22nd, 2008 at 5:23 am
ok, here i am again, asking yet another question…
i am on day 5 of the cleanse and doing ok. BUT i am seriously looking for a way to satisfy my dessert cravings…
does anyone know of any cookie, or bar recipes that might help me. i am thinking that almond butter and oats could possibly make me some sort of enjoyable cookie/bar type thing, but am not really sure of how to start.
any suggestions??
thanks in advance

This is my second time doing the wild rose detox. I found the first few days I was very sluggish and by the end I couldn’t believe the energy that I had. I also lost about 20lbs. I have created a great brown rice salad, I keep a big bowl of it in the fridge for lunch or dinner. I also found it easy to make a soup with chicken and veggies. Making things in bulk helps me with the “what I am I going to make tonight” question. I also like snacking on rice crackers and Homous. The rewards on how you feel after the cleanse are so worth it.
Good luck everyone…
March 4th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
This is my second time doing the d-tox in 6 years, the first time my mom and I did it together and she pretty much cooked everything for me, the results were amazing I lost weight and continued to lose weight.
This time it’s on my own! I bought the Recipe book which is soooo great, it makes things a lot easier, and I’m excited for cooking my dinners, and since I work during the day, I will cook enough for lunches.
I’m on day 2 now, and tonight for dinner the stuffed Avocado Salad with salmon, which I’m excited for! Meal planning is essential!
I plan on hittin’ the grocery store after work on most days to get a couple odds and ends for my recipes, make sure you have everything you need people!
No major cravings yet either, I find that lots of spices help concur those because it makes everything so flavorful!
Anyways, I’m really looking forward to the end result….I’ll keep posting.
PS
GET THE “HERBAL D-TOX COKBOOK FOR CLEANSING BY DR.TERRY WILLARD, PHD!!!
It helps so much, (it also has the sheet for what foods you can and cannot eat in the book)
March 12th, 2008 at 9:53 pm
Does anyone know if cornmeal is permitted? Or is this considered a flour?
Thanks!
March 21st, 2008 at 1:40 am
I just started 20 min ago…wish me luck (my first detox ever!☺)
by the ‘rules’ I can eat all the sashimi I want (sushi-grade raw fish without rice). My question is about the brown rice sushi…does anyone know if the rice vinegar is allowed? It’s a special sweet type of vinegar (and no, I won’t be having the soya sauce…it’s fermented…definitely not allowed…but Wasabi is!!!!♥)
March 23rd, 2008 at 2:07 am
Hi all!!! I’m on day 4 of the detox and I’m feeling better each day. The first couple days I felt very tired and peed ALOT!! Other then a couple minor headaches and kidney aches, nothing too serious. I was so nervous after reading other peoples experiences (vomiting etc). But I guess it depends on how much toxin build-up you have in your body. I would recommend anyone considering this cleanse to get the cookbook. It really helps with ideas so you don’t run out of ideas by the 4th day…It gets old eating the same thing everyday. Oh and I’ve had an acne problem for years and my skin is feeling and looking great!! Anyway, we’ll see how the next 8 days go!!
March 23rd, 2008 at 2:47 am
hello can anyone help, I have been on the detox program many times and iI love it , I been eating grapefruit and i don’t know if I can eat it please help
March 24th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
Today is my first day on the cleanse.
It doesn’t seem so bad.
I work full time, and I’m worried about these laxatives? Is it really that bad? Should I take some time off work?
I’m also concerned about the weight loss, have you guys noticed a significant loss?
March 25th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
do you know if you can use marinade on your chicken or fish? like tandoori? Salt and other spices are all ok? salad dressings? they are not specifically on the list, but would like different ways to spice up my chicken and fish. boiling and poaching is very blah. I’m only on day one…..I hope the results are as positive as some of the posts i have read!
March 26th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
Hi, this is probably the sixth time for me doing the detox (I do it every spring and fall). I’ve always felt like a million bucks after it being done and have a healthier lifestyle for the first while after completing it. Here’s the scoop…as much as I enjoy the detox…I’m just trying to get more ideas. I was under the impression that although most spices were allowed that salt was not. I’m wondering if anyone knows if the product called “no salt” is allowed as it’s potassium based NOT sodium. (It would help with the popcorn and butter)….also….Can we have stevia? It is a herb (NOT sugar based in any way) I’m thinking it’s ok…can anyone confirm?
And for the grapefruit questions…I know we are allowed lemon juice, but I was under the impression that other citris fruits were not allowed.

Below the chart it says that salt is OK in moderation. No idea on stevia, and yes, I thought grapefruit was a tropical fruit and therefore a no-no.

Day 5 and everything is fine, but I wish there were more beverages.
What I did do to improve some of the blander recipes. I made my own hot sauce. I bbq’d the peppers instead of blanching them in vinegar and then used lemon juice in the sauce. It was awesome. If anybody is interested I can post the recipe.
Good luck!

I am on day seven of my first ever ‘Wildrose Detox’, and for that matter any detox/cleanse. Things are going well, mainly because I have the support of my girlfriend who encouraged me to try it. Typical symptoms for the first half of the cleanse but things seem to be coming full circle and I feel much better now.
Couple questions:
First, Coffee? I understand that you cannot use cream/milk or sweetners of any kind but is a cup of coffee in the morning out of the question? Does not seem to be on the list.
Secondly, Mike you should definately post that hot sauce recipe (the one I tried to make, didn’t turn out as planned) and eating eggs (especially that fritatta thing!) w/o hot sauce (sacreligious).
Good luck to everyone out there trying to better themselves.

Hey Jade - alot of salsas have vinegar in them, so check the ingredients. You can always make your own with lemon juice, spices, onions and tomatoes. Hope it’s going well!

Brandy,
I understand no juice, but water with a squeeze of lemon can help…it says at the bottom to limit tomato and V-8 juice…but you can have some. i also like a little berry tea..when I get sick of water.

Hi all, just starting the cleanse today, this is my fourth time. I was hoping that someone out there had any OTHER recipes that are not in the cook book. I’m looking for yummy dinner ones.
Also to answer some of the questions above:
Coffee is allowed. A max of 2 cups a day(it’s under the 20% column)
Grapefruit is a big no..sorry
Salsa is allowed but not the store bought
ones, you’d have to make your own which is quite tasty
Marinades aren’t allowed either.
I hope this helps!

My partner and I are 10 days into our second adventure with the Wild Rose Cleanse but who’s counting. Both feeling lighter and better for it all. We have discovered some treats to make the experience that much more delectable: Cabbage rolls stuffed with brown rice, diced red peppers and green onion, and ground turkey along with an array of spices and herbs (pepper,oregano, crushed red chili peppers); Pesto dressings - sundried tomatoes and fresh basil whipped together with cilantro, pepper, garlic, olive oil, and water in a Magic Bullet blender; fresh basil and fresh tomatoes whipped together in the same fashion; Rice cakes spread with almond-hazelnut butter topped with fresh blackberries squished on top (delish !!!);
Fresh frozen blueberries satisfy cravings for sweets;kitcheree is awesome;
Brag - an unfermented, gluten-free, soy sauce substitute - adds mucho flavour to any food. Enjoying a healthy weight loss that I credit to a combination of the cleanse and exercise and look forward to revising our daily diets beyond the cleanse.
